CONTRIBUTE
Write for a Lifestyle Magazine
Independent perspectives for a life lived with thought, feeling and intention.

The stories we hope to publish
We’re drawn to a clear point of view, original reporting and details that stay with the reader. A strong pitch tells us what the story is, why it matters now, and why you’re the person to tell it.
We consider reported features, interviews, essays and personal stories rooted in experience. Practical advice should be carefully researched and supported by credible sources.
We’re less likely to pursue broad trend round-ups, product-led shopping lists or pitches that could belong to any publication.
How to pitch
Email us with PITCH and your working headline in the subject line. Please keep each idea concise and include:
-
A working headline and a short summary of the story.
-
The format you have in mind and any people or experts you’d like to speak with.
-
Why the idea is right for Not Nothing and our readers.
-
Two or three links to relevant writing or work. If you’re new to publishing, you can include a short writing sample instead.
-
A brief introduction to you and your experience with the subject.
You’re welcome to send two or three distinct ideas. Please pitch the idea before writing the full piece; we’ll agree on scope, timing and terms before commissioned work begins.
Images and original work
Please tell us about any photographs, artwork or other material you’d like to propose. Include the creator’s name and confirm that you have permission to share it for editorial consideration. Please don’t attach images you don’t own or have permission to use.
All submissions should be original and should identify any relevant sources, partnerships or conflicts of interest.
Commissioning and fees
There is no single fee for every story. Compensation is considered individually, based on the idea, the scope of the assignment and the writer’s experience. We’ll agree on the fee, scope and terms with you before any commissioned work begins.
Some stories lead to further commissions. In exceptional cases, a writer’s work and the way it resonates with readers may open the door to a longer-term opportunity. We consider each case individually and can’t promise ongoing work or a staff position.
What happens next
We respond to every pitch within three to four business days. If your idea feels right for Not Nothing, we’ll be in touch to discuss the angle, scope, timing and terms before commissioning the story.
